Hey all! Hope everybody's doing okay.

If you have ever wondered why I haven't been all that active with posting new works these past few years on deviantART, the answer is simple: Japanese took over my life.

A few years ago, I found a method for learning it that makes sense and is very effective, so I've been sticking with it all this time.

Every single day I'm doing at least something in Japanese, whether it be reading manga, playing video games, watching videos online, or listening to podcasts. Even as I'm writing this, I'm listening to an アルミ缶の上にあるラジオ podcast talking about Hajime no Ippo.

Thanks to this method, I'm now able to read Japanese novels and understand about 80 to 90% of them. I still got a long way to go with my Japanese journey, but I'm happy to say I'm no longer in the rut that I was stuck in for so many years.

That being said, I do have a couple of comic projects that I will be working on this summer. I'll try to post regular progress updates on those at my tumblr account for those interested in getting a "behind the scenes" look at how I go about drawing comics.

Also, I have opened up a Storenvy store recently. I just have comics/doujinshi and prints for sale at the moment, but I will also be adding paintings, buttons, bookmarks, etc. in the coming weeks. Feel free to take a look!

NOTE: Stupid DA for not letting me type Japanese beyond six characters in the listening to/watching/etc. fields above. So I just romanized it all. :P Actually, lemme just type it out here:

アルミ缶の上にあるラジオ
ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石
やはり俺の青春ラブコメは間違っている
大貝獣物語

Doesn't that look much better? :D

I've been meaning to try and learn Japanese for years! And not just inspired by anime but all the rpg's that haven't been localized and all the amazing light novels. I'll have to give this a try!

It's never too late to do so!

Out of the 20 or so Super Famicom games I've bought in the past few years, 15 of them were never officially brought over to North America, and they're mostly RPGs most people don't even know exist!

I just started getting into reading light novels this year, so I'm not all that familiar with what's out there, but I have found an author whose style I like and is easy to read (Kaya Kizaki 城崎火也) so I've been buying and reading whatever I can get of their work.

I'll definitely give it a go over the holidays(or as soon as I'm done my run of conventions this year). There's one light novel I really want to read, called "Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horizon_... , I've been patiently waiting for a translated version that I could download to the iPad. Problem is each book in the series is notorious for long chapters, and novels that are 1000+, so translating them is a job and a half. I figured I'd have to buckle down, look for chapters online and have a tab with babelfish open D:!

Wow, I've never seen light novels that long before! It kinda stretches the meaning of the term a bit much, huh? XD

Reading the description of that series from Wikipedia, it sure does sound interesting! I think I might take a look into it to see what it's like.

Apparently volume 0, the prologue is 4500 pages, which makes me question the whole "light novel" term XD! But yes the story and accompanying anime and manga are so good! But then I am a history nerd :D!
