Anime North 2009 Coming Up

[daily deviation] Heh, these things sure do take you by surprise, don't they? What makes this one even sweeter is that fact that it's not fan art. :D Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

[anime north 2009] Only a week left til it's here! I'll be going again this year, though I won't be in the Comic Market (formerly Artist Alley). I will, however, have some pieces in the Gallery Momiji art show and some prints in their gallery store. So if you're going to be at Anime North, be sure to check 'em out!

+ + + + +

Over the years here at dA, I haven't really given back to my watchers in any sort of tangible way; mainly it's just been me posting up art every so often and replying to comments here and there. But I'd like to change that up a bit, in the form of providing information and other things for those who would like to see it.

So the question is: what would YOU like to see from me?

The most obvious options that come to mind are tutorials and featuring artist's works from my watchlist. Other things I can let you guys come up with. :)

Oh, and one other thing. Would anyone be interested and be willing to commission me? That's something I would like to start now that school isn't eating so much of my time anymore.

In other news, I've become a big fan of Hajime no Ippo. I'm even entertaining the thought of doing a portrait project for it. Still got a long way to go with catching up on the manga, but there's no rush. :)

UW is gooood.

Okay, time for an update.

Back in university obviously. Third year Fine Arts Major. Since I've taken on a full course load this term, I've had little to no time to spare for anything else unfortunately. Painting's been the most fun so far (and also the most time consuming) and right now I'm in the middle of constructing a mammoth 3.5 * 8 foot canvas. It was a little frustrating working on it (it's already fallen apart on me once) but now that the main cross braces are in place, it's gotten a little easier. Stretching the canvas for it though will be a bitch... >_<;;

Don't think things will settle down 'til at least the end of November, so the stuff listed below will have to wait a bit longer.

List of things I need to work on (in no particular order):

* Kiriban for ~akewataru
* Kiriban for =EnD-Reitanna
* BBCP Portraits
* Art Trade with *perishing-twinkie
* Commission for *Jadejj
* Original One-Shot Comic
* D.Gray-man Doujinshi
* Harry Potter Doujinshi

...I'm sure there's more, but this's just off the top of my head.

I'll try and see if I can't get a few of my drawing and painting projects from last year up here some time. If I had a decent camera, they would've been up long ago. :)

Oh yeah, if anyone cares, if you remember the bookmark sale I had posted around June, it's still going on (still have yet to receive an order... -_-) so if you really like some of them, please take the time to order! And if you're waiting until Anime North to buy 'em, don't bother. I'm more than likely NOT going to be selling there next year simply for the reason of taking a long needed break.

'Til next time!

Bookmark Clearance Sale!

Fri Jun 6, 2008, 7:49 PM
[bookmark sale] I'm holding a bookmark clearance sale to help clear out what remaining stock I have left. There are 17 designs available to choose from, prices ranging from $1.00 to $2.00 USD each. Head on over to the bookmark sales page for more info!

[bleach doujinshi] I sold quite a few at AN, and it's left me with 25 copies. Unless there is a sudden demand for it, I doubt I'll get it reprinted, so you'd best get them now before they're gone.

BLEACH doujinshi "Precious Dragon" starring Arisawa Tatsuki on how she deals with her newly found shinigami powers. Interested? Then please jump on over to the doujinshi information page.

Anime North 2008 Report!

[post-anime north] It has come and gone and I'm a little richer because of it (not by much mind you ;)). Although I would have liked to spend more time browsing all the other artist's tables, Anime North was a decent experience this time around. I got to match faces with names from the forums so that's always great. ^.^

One thing that I was a little worried about was breaking even. But luckily I did just that and managed to rack in a little bit of profit as well. So that was nice! To everyone who came by my table, thanks! ^__^

While going through the dealer's room, not much really caught my interest, which is a bit surprising, since I tend to spend $200+ usually. All I got was the ×××Holic DVDs 1 and 2, Blame! DVD, and two Japanese volumes of Tsubasa. That's it. If Kikiwai had a bigger selection of manga in Japanese I would've bought a whole lot more given they were priced at $3 - $5 a pop! If only their site had prices that low... :{

Some shoutouts to people I met while working my table!

To the person sitting to the left of me selling the Fimo cellphone straps. Hope you did well with sales! It seemed like you were getting quite a few custom orders, so that's always great.

To Michelle, whose comic (Mijeanie Tea Cafe) I bought. That was really great! The flow of the story was nice and the way you portrayed the overall mood through your style fit quite well. Boy, that brother is so disgusting and ruthless! I hope he gets his one day... heheh!

To the person sitting to the right of me who was part of ACG North America (I'm sorry I forgot your name!) UPDATE: It's =Ichigo-OH!. I think I've mistaken kaze-hime for you. It's a shame we weren't able to exchange prints on the Sunday; I had forgotten about that! Perhaps there'll be another time! :D Oh, and thank you so much for offering me food! lol

[commissions] I'll be opening myself up to commissions for the summer. I haven't quite settled on a pricing scheme for colour works (I've got a scheme settled for black & white work however), so I'll post that up once it's ready.

Commission me, will ya?! :D

Anime North coming ever nearer...

[anime north] It's coming up so quickly! Less than twenty days to go! It's scary just thinking about it... Still got a ton of work left to do, the most arduous task being the cutting and laminating of hundreds of bookmarks. Yay, so much fun.

I was one of the very fortunate ones who managed to get an alley table for themselves this year (100 tables sold out in less than a minute). I'll be by my little lonesome manning it, so come on by and cheer me up, will ya? Anyone else going to Anime North this year?

Here's hopin' I'll break even this time around.

[bleach doujinshi] Still got lots of copies left of it, though there probably won't be many left after Anime North. BLEACH doujinshi "Precious Dragon" starring Arisawa Tatsuki on how she deals with her newly found shinigami powers. Interested? Then please jump on over to the doujinshi information page.

[more art on the way] Once I get the chance, I'll photograph all my favourite paintings and drawings that I did over these past eight months and post 'em up here. Haven't really done as much digitally, though I'm starting to get back into it. I just finished this one piece that's nothing short of awe-inspiring (even if I do say so myself). Not sure when I'll let you all see it for yourselves, but it's something to look forward to at least.

'Til next time!
