Media: Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
Date: Winter 2009
Dimensions: 1.5 × 2 feet

This is the sort of stuff I started doing these past months. I actually stumbled upon it by accident when I was researching surrealist techniques. Instead of using it as a basis to interpret imagery from, I made it into the subject matter itself.

So what do you people think? :)

It'd be interesting to see if people would be willing to commission me for this type of work... :)

Update: I've got a higher quality image up now.

I really like that word "diaphanous"; it describes the work rather accurately I believe. I do have other paintings like this, though coming up with titles for them is quite the challenge! ;)

I think it is absolutely beautiful. I find it amazing that it seems to be have 3 Dimensional form!

Reminds me of an abalone shell. I'm completely amazed at how you were able to capture iridescence with a medium that is static. I envy your talent.

A stunning piece of work you have here, Zanazac!
I was instantly reminded of a dragonfly's wing that is made of steel (if that makes any sense). What an intriguing contrast between two main colors. I'm somewhat surprised to see this side of you as well.
